Darlene / Deorling ?
So far doing a search on Deorling brings up different results. It is old English, Deor / deore meaning beloved, ling - suffix meaning littleness. Now Deorling will come up for Darrell, while Darlene comes from OE Dearling - though elsewhere I found that deorling is the orginating source for Darlene/Darleen.
So which one is it, is Deorling m or f ?

There's a good chance that Deorling was not specifically male or female, any more than the descended word 'darling' is specific to males or females now. It's a generic diminutive endearment.
