Shakespeare makes a reference to Milo in Troilus and Cressida. It's not a strong reason a name would trend but probably one of the more accessible places it might have been seen? It wasn't a popular play though, and may have been read more than performed.

Also the entry on Milo in Yonge's Christian names is the same in the first edition of 1863.
