Name Rafaela in Spain & Portugal
Hello! I'm looking for some information on nicknames for the name Rafaela in Spain & Portugal. From what I can tell, Rafa is a nickname in Portugal (and/or Brazil) and possibly Rafinha as well. I was wondering if Rafa was also a nickname in Spain. Most of the information I can find is based on the name Rafael, so I'm not sure if it was also common for Rafaela. Any insight is appreciated!

Yes! Rafa is a common nickname for Rafaela in both Spain and Portugal (as well as in Brazil). While it's more frequently associated with Rafael, it is also used for Rafaela in both languages.Nicknames for Rafaela in Spain & Portugal:
Rafa – Widely used, both for Rafael and Rafaela.
Rafita – More affectionate/diminutive, though more common for Rafael.
Rafinha – Common in Portugal and Brazil, following the Portuguese diminutive pattern (-inha for feminine).
Fala – Less common, but possible in informal settings. In Spain, Rafaela is less commonly shortened to Rafinha, as Spanish diminutives tend to use "-ita" rather than "-inha." However, Rafa remains the go-to nickname in both Spain and Portugal.
