Archivesthe name DEMING
My grandfather's name was Deming and I gave my youngest son that name in honor of Grandfather, but I cannot find its meaning anywhere. I am inclined to think it might mean "judging" since it sounds like "deeming." But, as we all know, you can't just go with how it sounds. So, does anyone have any info on this wonderful name? I can't find anything on it anywhere I look.

Hanks & Hodges's A Dictionary of Surnames does indeed give Deming as an alternate form of Deeming, from the Old English for "act of judging".
