I just noticed that on December 8th 2022 (after about over 15 years of being classified as a Unisex name on approx. February 12th 2007), that the name Gabby was changed from “Masculine & Feminine” to just “Feminine”.
This name can also be used as a Masculine name in the Philippines as a diminutive of Gabriel, making this name Unisex.

At least tell me the reason why the gender change to “Feminine”?

Hi Leo,
Your passion for unisex names is evident and admirable. There are indeed examples of male Gabbys. However, when adding usages and genders my goal is NOT to be exhaustive. There needs to be a balance between concise and exhaustive, otherwise that data loses value. Note also that the forebears.io source is not great for determining the usage of diminutives. It is likely that a significant percentage of the women named Gabrielle, Gabriella, etc. in the ESW are also known as Gabby.
You can make a case that Gabby should be listed as Filipino. However, there are likely many more names that should be added to the under-researched Filipino category first. If you want me to add Filipino usage JUST so the name shows as unisex, then I cannot get behind this.
You can submit a correction for Gabby with a suggestion that Filipino should be added. Note you only need to submit a correction once, not 10 times. The message boards are not a good place to request corrections.
One last thing of note: 2 of the 3 male Gabbys you cited as examples are not Gabriels. They acquired their nicknames for other reasons (as described in their Wikipedia articles). Just thought that was interesting.

The reasoning is very elaborate and well-detailed. I never said I want you to make the name Unisex again, I was just asking you a reason why for this change.
