I think that would probably mean that they're assuming that
Kaylin is a variation of Kalila, an Arabic name that means "beloved". Personally, I don't think that's very likely, though. I'd guess that
Kaylin is just an elaboration of Kay--rather like
Kayleen, the name of one of my sister's friends.
I haven't heard this idea that
Kayla means "crown of laurels". I don't suppose you have more information about where you got this?
I think that your book would be interesting. It'd be like a "Beyond
Jennifer and
Jason" that doesn't suck like a Hoover! ;)
