Name update #114
Many new names and corrections are now live. This was a fairly "general" update, but there was some extra attention on Ancient Egyptian names and Shakespearian names.

I appreciate the update, Mike! I'm looking forward to seeing the added Ancient Egyptian names!
Only just catching this update now, I was excited to see Wieczorek added to the surnames list as I believe it may have been my suggestion :')
In the replies, another user suggested adding notifications for when a user's submissions have been accepted, which would be a great QoL feature! But due to the way name additions are handled, perhaps it would be easier to add notifications for when submissions or saved names are deleted? That would also let users know when they need to re-add updated names to their lists.
I don't know if this late reply would be seen, but my thanks goes out to Mike C and the site team for all the work you do! BtN is an amazing onomastic & literary resource and it's wonderful to see it still growing :-)

Thats great! Thank you so much Mike for this new Update and for the new names that made it to the main database.

Do you let people know if the names they've submitted are added to the site?
No, but that's a good idea.
Yes definitely would like this feature!!!
You might get a notification that a name you submitted has been changed by an editor, but the change will appear that it was deleted (names don't get moved, when Mike adds to the database it's a new entry entirely, so an editor will delete the submission so there isn't a duplicate).
Could you update Red to a feminine name too???
Can you add Adda and Dasia (pronounced DAY-zha)?
There's a way to "nominate" submitted names...
1. Put these names on one of your personal name lists (or create a new one just for this purpose)
2. Go to https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/nominate.php, select this list, and press Nominate
This is helpful since I update in batches.

Tarben and Jazibiyya came close, but they survive for now. :)
