Why do some Spanish diminutives not closely match the names they're short for?
Jose
has
Pepe
,
Francisco
has
Pancho
,
Paco
, and
Curro
, and
Jesus
has
Chucho
and
Chuy
. I assume there's some explanation here. Where did these nicknames come from?
