I wonder if
Ruxandra could be a reference to
Alexander the Great and his first wife
Roxana. Perhaps once upon a time people referred to his wife as
Roxana of
Alexander (as in, "
Roxana, wife of
Alexander" - these types of reference were common in older times, at least in Western
Europe) and this ultimately developed into
Ruxandra over time?
