Aislinn prn.
Is it pronounced "ASH-ling"?
Asking because that's the pronunciation listed for Aisling, and because I met an American Aislinn yesterday pronounced like it would sound phonetically in English (AES-lin). I thought it might be a technically "incorrect" pronunciation but her last name sounded Irish so I wasn't sure.

Acceptable Gaelic pronunciations of Ashling include Ash-ling, Ash-leen, and Ash-linn.
Just because she has an Irish last name, it doesn't mean that she (or her parents) would know a thing about Ireland or about Gaelic pronunciation rules...
I wouldn't be surprised if an American would pronounced Aislinn phonetically, like Caitlin came to be pronounced Katelyn in the US.
