Re: Older submitted names (eta: added further examples)

OK, cool :)
Do you think I should message him with the idea? I thought he might see the post, but maybe not?
eta: just realized my initial response to you sounds kinda bitchy and I honestly didn't mean it to. I was just trying to explain myself as clearly as I could and it came off patronizing. Apologies!
eta 2: some other examples for which a report button would be useful would be some of the Tolkien submitted names (such as http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/beren). Obviously submitted before editors, because it contains a wall of text essay lol
Actually, here are further examples, from the Literature tag. Some are likely not names, some are missing info, some have incorrect info, etc And these are just the ones that popped out at me on a quick skim through the tag, there might be more. Most of these were submitted years and years ago.
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/cassady - made up meaning, Cassady is a variant of Cassidy which does not mean 'clever'
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/daegana - made up meaning, other forms a stretch (google returned a few results for people named Degona or with the surname Degona, but there's nothing to suggest its a form a Daegana)
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/eru - has absolutely no information
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/jen - this one has its info in the wrong spot
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/jeod - no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/jesehka - no info, google returns the only literature result as some random Camp Rock fanfic
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/juilie - shows up as a legit variant of Julie, but no explanation on the Literature origin, google shows no results
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/kipcha - no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/kyne - The version of the name submitted by Ryan is most certainly incorrect, given the known English meaning of Kyne as 'cow'.
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/kyraine - google shows it's made up and primarily used as a username for a WoW character, the player is probably the one who submitted it. Other forms and meanings are made up.
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/legoles - obviously the submitter meant to submit Legolas but spelled it wrong
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/lirina - doesn't say where it's from, can't find anything on google for a lit reference (though it does appear to be the name of real people), meaning is dubious
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/martialla - no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/morla - should at least have the Lit tag, most likely should not have the ancient Persian tag as there's no proof to be found it's an ancient Persian name (the name itself seems unlikely to be of Persian origin), the meaning is quite obviously incorrect, and it's said to be the feminine version of Morlianos, which when googled only returns results for 2 OCs for roleplaying, and it is known to be the name of a character in the Neverending Story, and a modern name used primarily in America as well as a rare surname.
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/mundungus - no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/niamara - no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/nos - no info on where it's from, meaning is incorrect (nox is night, nos means 'we', I suspect the submitter meant to submit nox)
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/olabowale - no lit info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/pooh - no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/quinella - meaning is obviously incorrect, no real lit info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/salaina - shows up as a real name, but no lit info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/saveth - no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/shakespeare - shouldn't be on btn imo should be on bts, no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/sharlan - no real info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/sidorio - no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/silvermist - no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/tabio - no real info, dubious meaning
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/tris - multiple entries that can be combined
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/tulliver - conflicting meanings (pretty sure the Scottish meaning is incorrect)
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/walpeter - no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/whitasha - dubious meaning, no real info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/winry - briefly googling shows the meaning to be dubious and likely made up, and that the name itself is made up (it's definitely not a real Japanese name for sure)
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/wonapalei - no lit info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/xira - no lit info, meaning is dubious, google returns this as a result-- http://www.allbabynames.com/BabyName/Spanish/Xira.aspx which is far more believable due to the city of Vila Franca De Xira.
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/yaela - no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/yvaine - scottish name meaning is most certainly incorrect
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/zsadist - no info
http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/zulleyka - no lit info

Oh, no worries. I didn't take it that way at all.
If you want Mike C to see it, maybe just change your heading to "Attn: Mike C" or something. I don't know that he goes through every post except maybe those on the Administrators board.
I think a flag button could be a good idea as long as there is a way to search for the flagged names and the person leaves an indication as to why its flagged.
ETA: I am starting to fix some you posted. Also, just because a name doesn't have info doesn't mean it isn't real it just means no one has added it yet. If you have info on it you can resubmit. I did find information for some you posted.

Yeah, I mostly just found it weird that there would be no info for names on the Literature tag-- like why wouldn't they have said what book or game or movie or whatever it's from, you know? Like, a name under, say, Basque or French or Jamaican Patois, without info would be fine I think, but a name from Literature or Theater or Pop Culture, etc should have info on where it's from (especially since those would be the tags in which someone would submit a name they made up for a character in some random fanfic and which isn't seen anywhere else).
I'll change the heading to Attn: Mike C per your suggestion, thanks :)
