Keltie
Does anyone know what the meaning of the name Keltie is?
Replies
Keltie comes from the old lands of Keltie in Perthshire in Scotland. The word Keltie itself is derived from the Scots Gaelic language, from the word 'coillte', the plural of 'coille', meaning a wooded area. Several streams and rivers in Scotland were named Keltie or Kelty, all running through wooded areas. Keltie is originally a surname, which like many others has through time come to be used also as a firstname.
I named my orange kitten Kelti, based VERY loosely on the Finnish word for yellow, Keltainen.
Somehow, i seriously doubt that is the meaning you are looking for : )

Hi Tamaryn,
Maybe it's a pet form of Kelton (which originally was an Old English place name, meaning: calf + town)?
