This is a female name that I associate with black women born between WWI and WWII.

1) Do I have the right spelling?

2) Can anyone shed any light on its origin?

You have one possible spelling, but Lonetta is also used.

I would assume this is simply a feminine form of Lonnie or Alonzo created by adding -etta to Lon, a pet form of those names. -etta was a productive suffix of new names during the time period you indicate.
