Fiana
I'm wondering if anyone has information about the name Fiana? It was the name of one of my ancestor's sisters. I've looked it up on Google and all the name references seem to say that it's Irish in one way or other, but the Fiana in my family tree was born in Switzerland in 1715 to a family who had lived in Switzerland since at least the mid-1500s, so I'm guessing in this instance it isn't Irish. Anything would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

As a Swiss name, from the "sound" of it, I would guess that Fiana is a Romansh name. If the Fiana from your family tree was living in the Grisons (Kanton Graubünden), this would be all the more likely.
I cannot prove it, however. Google shows that there are people named Fiana living today in Switzerland, but probably very few.

That's pretty interesting. I know that her father's family was located in Zurich from at least the mid 1500s. I have no idea where her mother was born, all it says is Switzerland. As it's listed, Fiana was born in Bernack, Winthal, Switzerland, a place that apparently does not exist, at least according to Google search.
