Re: Meaning of Akrong?

There are a 100 languages and dialects in Ghana only with English as one lingua franca. Your friend probably knows the meaning of his name himself. I guess that he is Ga speaking. Many traditional African names (but not Moslem names derived from Arabic) are descriptive. I once knew a Ugandan called Jamhadri meaning Born-to-die (called James) because his parents had lost so many children before they had him. A friend of my daughter's is called Adero in Luo which specifies the time of the night she was born while her sister is Atieno.
