I remember reading this name in a book from the seventies that listed various names and their meanings. I'm not sure of the origin, but I know that it means 'shadow' or 'darkness'. It's not on this website, I've checked a few times. I'm 30% sure it's Arabic.
Can anyone help me find out exactly the origin/exact meaning of this name? I really like it and it's making me curious.
(I've found the name Zala here, but it's just a nn for another name)

Wonder if it means God this is the last child i am going to have ever ! Z is the last letter of the alphabet , Then Allah is next part of word . My mother used to say she was God .She had probably had enough of us all and certainly would not want any morelike us She was Cof E .My father RC !!!! She probably would not have wanted to be ruled by the RC church on rules like no birth control She used to sing her Cof E hymns whilst she washed up . God love her .
