I know about the legend of the dog Gelert and Beddgelert is the village in Snowdinia called because bedd is grave and that is were the dog is buried. I want to Know the origin of the Name Gelert please.
There are theories that the name comes from the Irish name Celert or Cilert. Celert was a saint's name, and many believe that the "grave of Gelert" was actually based on an original holy site for Saint Celert.
