Is this an actual Danish first name?
One of my friend's Facebook friends is Danish and has Asbøg in the middle of his full name; you'd think it was a middle name, but it looks more like it's part of a hyphenated surname of sorts. A search on Google seems to confirm this, as it mostly seems to be a surname in Denmark. However, I could easily see this being a first name, composed of Old Norse áss "God" and Old Norse bogi "bow". Has such a first name ever existed? Could it be that this was once a name for men/women, but that it has since gone out of use and is nowadays mostly seen as a (patronymic/matronymic) surname?I was just wondering about this, because I like the look and feel of Asbøg and wanted to know more about it. :)Thank you for any input you can provide! :D
