... what about Xantippe, or was she Xanthippe? Socrates's wife, if memory serves, and a ferocious one at that, though he must have been hard to live with. Is it a version of the same name? And pronounced how? We used to get away with Zan-tip-ee, stress on the middle syllable, but no doubt there's much more to it than that.
