derived from sharon. Y added to insure correct pronounciation (sh-hay-ron). not to be confused with sharron (sha-ron). born in scotland. perhaps of irish decent?? any help appreciated.

Well, well, you learn something new every day. Where I come from, the correct pronunciation is Sharron (with a short A sound, as in Apple).
However, it's clearly the same name, with the Y added to indicate the pronunciation required by whoever named you.
