My name, Dorma, was passed down from my grandmother. (She was born in 1880.) I've been searching for its origin for years, but other than family usage, I'm stuck. I know the Latin root refers to sleep, but I don't think my ancestors were likely to have known Latin! They were stonemasons and builders from Ireland, emigrating around 1830, but maintaining close family ties "across the pond." There are a few of us out there who would love to know the name's origin. Can anyone help?
