In Hebrew it would probably be spelled Mem, Tav, Vav. However, the Tav could also be a Tet . (They make the same sound.) There is also a very doubtful possibility that the Vav is a Vet. In English, unless the name is pronounced "me-i-tav" I don't think that there would be an "i".
