I met a girl whose name is pronounced mehy-TAHV. She is Israeli, so it is probably Hebrew. I couldn't find it on this site. Does anyone know the meaning of or how to spell this name?

There's a word in Hebrew îéèá, mem yud tet vet, (îÁéèÈá) that means the best, and is pronounced exactly the way you described it.
I looked on the internet a bit and found a couple of women named Meitav with that spelling (ETA: the Hebrew spelling, that is - I don't think it matters how you transliterate it into English) and meaning, so I think it is nearly certain that the parents just used that word as a name.

In Hebrew it would probably be spelled Mem, Tav, Vav. However, the Tav could also be a Tet . (They make the same sound.) There is also a very doubtful possibility that the Vav is a Vet. In English, unless the name is pronounced "me-i-tav" I don't think that there would be an "i".

Thanks ! I go to Hebrew school and that is where I met this girl. So (in English) it would be Metav?

Well, I'm sure that there is a standard transliteration chat for Hebrew, but I have never seen one. (I'm Jewish too). I've figured out that there are about 13 acceptable ways to right a Hebrew word in English. So theoretically, I guess it could be Meitav or Metav.
