Are these real names????
Are Kanan, Selmak, Lantash, and other tok'ra names from Stargate SG-1 real? Do they have any historical significance? I got slammed on another board for not doing "10 seconds of research" before saying I liked the name Kanan. I just figured since most everything on the show is linked to some culture, that the tok'ra names would be too. Any information would be appreciated. THANKS!

lol I've often wondered... I think Jolinar could be Hebrew/semitic, because Yolina is a Jewish name. Freya definitely exists, it's a Nordic name or something. Malek is a Hebrew name meaning "king". Anise makes me think of the French name Anis, meaning "anise" (the green stuff). Martouf may be an Arab name meaning "one who replaces someone else", but I'm not sure.
