Many Greek names seem to have a "mene" ending... what does "mene" mean in Greek?

This is a bit tricky, because "-mene" endings as transliterated in inglish could in Greek be either "-MHNH" (with an eta - as in Alcmene, Ismene) or "-MENH" (with an epsilon).
In -MENH endings (as in Cleomene), "mene" is related either to the verb "MENO" meaning "to remain, to be constant" or "MENOS" meaning "passion, rage, fury". I suspect that Cleomene, who was a Spartan, is related to the latter :)
In -MHNH endings (as in Ismene, Alcmene), "mene" is related either with "MHNIS" (wrath)-- which is related to "MENOS" above -- or "MHNH" meaning "moon" :)
