Though why not a nn which is not derived from the formal name?
Since Vera can be used for Veronica, maybe Veronica as a nn for Vera? Or maybe Verita (like Lolita is a nn for Lola).

Well, the obvious one is "Veer", but whether you think that's good or not would be a question for the opinions board!
