Dashkov/Dashkova
I read something about these names being Molokan. I have never ever heard of such an ethnicity. Supposedly these names are derived from Dasii and Darii, and I found that Dasii means 'martyr'. What does the 'kov' mean? I assume, from my limited Russian knowledge, that it means something like child, son, daughter, etc.
Anyone more have anything beyond this? I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks again,
Melina
PS, sorry for 2 posts so close together.

First, we are talking about last names, right?
Dashkov would be "son/male offspring of Dashko", where Dashko is a diminutive form of pretty much any Slavic name that starts with Dar-.
Dashkova would be the female version of Dashkov.
