Neda
Does anyone know the exact meaning of this Iranian female name? Articles about Neda Soltan, the young woman killed during the Teharan demonstrations, give different meanings for the name, according to one it's "divine calling", another "voice"

The list of Persian names by Maryam Kutchemeshgi (at my knowledge, it is reliable) gives the meaning of "voice, call" and one online Persian dictionary (http://www.farsidic.com/) gives the meaning "proclamation, voice" for the word neda, which matches. The meaning "divine calling" seems one of those embellished meanings.
