ArchivesName meaning
I am a muslim originally from Pakistan (Asia) living in UK. I have heard that Nousherwan was the name of a famous emperor of Iran who was famous for his justice and wisdom. Some other people told me that Nousherwan is only a character in some stories. I am 28 now but could not find the actual meaning of my name anywhere. This name may be spelled as Nosherwan, Noshervan, Nausherwan, Naushervan or Noushervan.

Well as u may have seen my name is also Naosherwan and i have heard that Naosherwan E adil had 9 lions and the this name was the "laqab" of that Iranian emperor meaning the one who keeps 9 lions. Now i am not sure whether this is true or not but i believe it is because my mom told me this and she had read in a story book.

I knew it wasn't right.(my other post). I was using the wrong dictionary. It comes from Anushak Ruban (Anooshak Roobaan), which is Zend for 'of immortal soul'

Nausherwan was the Emperor of Persia at the time of the Prophet's birth. (AD578) If wan means 'as' and nau-sher 'young lion', we get Like a young lion. I have no idea if this is the real meaning. Because he was so just, his name later came to mean 'just'.
