Ganila (f) I saw it in a local paper in a tiny little article about some woman in her 20's struggle with relationships problems. Her surname wasn't listed, perhaps for confidentiality reasons. Does it mean anything and where does it come from? It's got me really curious!!

Perhaps it's a variant spelling of Gunilla, a Swedish name that is derived from the Scandinavian Gunhild.

Ganila is not used in Sweden, so I doubt it's a variant spelling of Gunilla. Maybe a variant of Galina?
