Mackenzie is Scottish which is Gaelic, I suppose.
The first thing that came to my mind was that Daegan was a form of the Irish surname Deegan(Dee-gan). Deegan comes from O Duibhginn which comes from Dubhceann, meaning black-haired(literally black headed).
Seems plausible since this family likes surnames as first names.
