Re: Anyone know something about Izenia ?

Izen is the Basque word for 'name', Izen in Greek meant 'to make to sit, seat, place' - Izenia could conceivably be intended as a feminine Latinate form of either.
It's occurance seems to be limited to the US so maybe one for the American scholars to investigate further? And I notice that it seems to have a Latina flavour in current use but not in historical use so I'm a bit stumped about this one - it should be pointing to some Latin but the only thing I can think of anywhere close is Iseum 'temple of Isis' and I just don't think that's the jackpot you're looking for, sorry.

Just a wild guess: could it be a variant of Jezenia, Hygienia or similar?
