According to the Dutch name dictionary I have at home (Spectrum voornameboek by J. van der Schaar, D. Gerritzen & J. B. Berns), Rikus is a Flemish short form of Hendrik.

addingMy thoughts exactly, and I wanted to add that Hendrikus is also used, so it makes sense that way that "Rikus" would be derived from Hendrik. And Rikus would be RHEE-kus in Flemish/Dutch, not RIE-kus.
