Name books
I wasn't sure which board to post this on, but I hope you guys can help me.
I was given a name book recently and was wondering if any of you are familiar with it and if you can tell me if it’s any good (reliable, etc).
The book is : ‘The Mother of All Baby Name Books : Over 94,000 Baby Names’ by Bruce Lansky
Also, are there any other good name books you can recommend?
Thank you!

I assume that since you are asking on this board you are asking about "reliability" in terms of etymology.
I wouldn't consider Bruce Lansky a particularly reliable source in terms of etymology. On the other hand, he's not as bad as some authors, such as Diane Stafford, who have a huge number of off-the-wall "meanings" listed.
The books by Patrick Hanks and his colleagues from Oxford University Press would be among the best readily available paperbacks in English in terms of etymology.
