Vallentin
This was the name used by one of my family patriarchs, born in the early 1700's in Katzenbach, present-day Germany (in the southwestern region). I've been considering using it, but it's a strange spelling to me and I was wondering if it was legit. Is it an old spelling? A misspelling?
If it's not legit, I'll consider Valentin instead. I don't want people thinking I just don't know how to spell.

Is it a surname or a name?
Because " Vallentin" with two ll's is a surname in Germany so some times ago there was the name "Vallentin". It's your decision.

It's a first name that my family has traditionally translated as "Valentine". We think it was his Confirmation name.
