To put a more positive twist on it, it could be something like God promises light in the darkness.
It does - Lucifer!
Lucifer was originally a light bearer of God before he "fell" and became a dark angel, according to Ludeochristian mythology!

This is of course quite shallow and has nothing to do with meaning, but my name is Lucy Keifer, and if you take out the middle three letters (this is just a word/ phonetic game) you get Lucifer. My Paradise Lost class had great fun with that one, and for some reason my name endears me to any card-carrying Goth types I happen to meet ;)
Don't you mean "Judeo"-Christian mythology, Oh, Doric One?
I am losing my touch, Oh, Furry One!
In latin Lucifer literally means light-bearer (lux - light and ferre - bear).
