First name of Benomi

At a seminar yesterday I learned an interesting fact about this name from Lloyd Bockstruck, Genealogy dept. head at the Dallas Public Library. He said that the mother died in childbirth when a child with has that name. I posted this here because I found an archived message in which the person asked for information about the derivation of this name.

Blackapple's probably right. There's also another person in the Bible names Ben-ami--one of the sons of Lot by his daughters.

I would say it is a misspelling of Benoni. Benoni was the original name of Benjamin in the Bible, as it means 'son of my sorrow' and his mother died in child birth. Afterwards, his dad changed it to Benjamin, 'son of my right hand' since the first was so morbid.
