Can Maris be masculine name as well?
I happen to know a male Maris, and there are at least two famous male Maris' - Maris Gothoni (mentioned f. ex. here - http://www.observer.com/node/45880)
and Maris Liepa( http://www.for-ballet-lovers-only.com/Maris10.html ).
In Finland there are registered 18 men and 97 women named Maris
( https://192.49.222.187/Nimipalvelu/default.asp?L=3 ), most of the are born in 60-70's.
