Re: Yoshimi?
Wikipaedia says that it could be named after Yoshimi Yokota (Yoshimi P-we). That name in Kanji (Yokota Yoshimi, that is) with various pronounciations is given below. For Japanese names, it is the On and Kun entries (and the meaning attached to the Kanji, not the sound) that are relevant. The meaning of Yoshimi therefore comes from the words for good and beautiful.But, of course, 佳美 is not the only Kanji spelling for a name pronounced Yoshimi, and almost every spelling will have a different meaning.
