I've looked this name up on the database and it's from the Welsh form of David... I'd assumed that it might be a shortening of Stuart. Anyway, Dewey is a reasonably common name, and I wondered if it's always a shortening of David, or if it's used as a diminutive of other names too. And can it be a name in its own right?
