Does anyone have legit information on the use of Shia as a name and its meaning? שַׁי (pronounced SHY) is "gift" in Hebrew, but Shia LaBeouf has said that Shia means "Gift from God". It seems to me that meaning would probably require שַׁיאֵל (shy-EL) since -el is the typical Hebrew name element meaning "God", and that Shia alone would just mean "gift." Anyone know for sure? It's certainly not common, but Google turned up a couple of other people named it, so at least it exists.
