My guess is, if male, Nic-o-leh; if female, Nic-o-let. In Afrikaans, parents sometimes merge names ... say, Susan and Annette, and spell the result "Sunet" instead of "Sunette"; the final -e is regularly pronounced in Afrikaans so they are trying to make the pronunciation clear. Perhaps the Dutch do much the same?
