It's a name. You're fine to use anything. Think of this, are all Adams Jewish? What people are telling you is simply ignorant.

I apologize for posting it in the wrong place. I considered this a name usage question rather than one where I was asking for an opinion on the name (and those sorts of questions I *do* post on the Opinions board). But thanks for your feedback!
