How do you pronounce the "ie?" I'm fairly certain it isn't "ee" like in English.

'i' is pronounced as 'i' in front of consonants, and as 'y' in front of vowels. E.g. 'ie' would be pronounced 'ye'.

I don´t know in Romanian, but in Spanish (language that derives from latin, like romanian), "ie" sounds like "EE-eh": Diego is "dee EH-goh"; Graciela is grah-cee Eh-lah". I can't find in Spanish a name ending in "ie". Hope it helps.

Yes

According this site http://www.orbilat.com/Languages/Rumanian/Grammar/Rumanian-Pronunciation_and_Spelling.html

the group ie is pronounced [je], just as in Spanish. So, Ilie is pronounced [i'lje] (ee-LYEH), for instance.
