In the manga
Emma by
Kaoru Mori (I think), set in late 19th century England, you can find an old lady called
Kelly. In
Kaoru's manga
Shirley there is not only a young girl called
Shirley, but also a young woman called
Bennett. Were these names used for girls this early? I know that
Charlotte Brontë made
Shirley fashionable for girls in the middle of the 19th century, but here it's given to a young girl from the working-class.
