Re: my name

How do you get daughter of Isis from Isa?
"daughter of Isis" is "sat / sit Aset" in classic and "benet Aset" in modern Egyptian.
Isis is the Greek form, Egyptians called her Aset - just like Joan of Arc is the English form but French people call her Jeanne d'Arc (modern form of the Old French Jehanne Darc).
Meret (more commonly Merit / Meryt) is indeed "beloved".

RE: Lilith
Why isn't Lilith a good idea?
I totally think that that inappropriate of you to say - maybe some people believe in women's rights / voice.
I read your link and...
She is NOT a figure of evil. She is a woman who chose NOT to be submissive to a man and hence she got punished.
"In Jewish mythology, Lilith was indeed the first wife of Adam, created from the dirt and dust, as he was. According to the legend, Adam and Lilith ended up arguing about who would be dominant - Lilith refused to submit; so did Adam. As a result, Lilith left Adam and the Garden of Eden. Yes, since Lilith refused to submit, one could see her as independent, just as one could see Adam as independent for not submitting to Lilith. And yes, Lilith was known for tempting men in their sleep. However, this wondrous view of Lilith, the "independent free spirit" leaves out some critical details. "

An independent woman poses a threat to patrarchy. If you study theology you'll know that all independent women are "evil."

Apparently you didn't read the link entirely / correctly.
Anyway... you think the new vision of Lilith is the good one, great for you. Accept that other people may prefer the religious vision.
I have studied theology "a bit", being from a rabbinical family... lol
I also know the magazine Lilith. I have even read 4 or 5 of them because I wanted to know. It is a Reform Jewish magazine, and I'm traditional, so I really can't agree with them.
If "strong" women are seen as evil, why does the Bible praise Judith, Yael, Miriam... ? If independent woman are seen as evil, why is that in most ultra religious households the *woman* works out of the house while the man stays at home?
Last thing: women's rights. I wish secular society gave me the rights my religion gives me. Really. No woman would have to be afraid of rape or of being seduced and dumped, unless the guy is deeply, deeply masochistic... The women would also not have moronic policemen laughing at them and asking if they didn't "provoke" the guy. Well... one can dream...
But you probably don't want to see things from that point of view, so anyway... You have the right to express yourself, so let other people do the same. If you're not too disgusted by the mere thought of a traditional thing, look for the definition of "rape" in Judaism. If you are a real feminist, you will love it (I love it, too).

I've got to say this to both or you...
Miss Claire ADT is mainly trying to say that she thinks it rude of you say that Lilith is a horrible choice, but ADT choose to be rude about it when she told you that. ADT just because Miss Claire doesn't like the name Lilith because of Lilith who was a feminist who ate baby's and seduced men doesn't make her anti-feminist, it makes her anti-demon, baby eaters. And I agree with ADT only on the fact that Lilith was the first feminist but she was an evil feminist, and a demon. So I don't particually like that aspect of her. Just because someone is a feminist doesn't automatically means she's a great person - or demon - it just means she's a feminist. I've met many feminists that I couldn't stand even though I'm a feminist. And Mis Claire if you read the first link ADT gave it was very good and basically supported what you said. Both of you calm down really none of this conversation should have went on because this is not the opinion board or lounge.
