Personally I like it for a boy but have seen it used for both.

I always thought it to be a girl name til the actor became popular. I have friends that are girl w/ Ashton as a middle name. So I see it as a female name more then male.

Ever heard of Ashton Cutcher? My opinion is its a boy's name cause i've only ever heard someone with that name once.

i would say it depends on the spelling...for example: ashton to me seem like a boy name, but if it is spelled ashtyn it is much more feminine

I've seen it for both, too. The "main" Ashton I know is a girl, about sixteen years old, but I do think the name is rather masculine.

Although I'd rather use Asher for a boy.
