Is this an actual name?
My friend was telling me about a name she heard, pronounced ADD-eh-lay, not ah-DELL, ah-DELL-ah, or ah-DELL-eh. I'm familiar with Adelle, Adela/Adella, Adele, and versions with accents over the E's, but I wasn't aware of a variant pronounced ADD-eh-lay. Is there one out there?

Yes, this is a real name. I believe it is spelled Adelai, I had considered this for my daughter, Adelaide, and thought of using it as a nn. I had a friend whose relative had a daughter called Adelai. I had come across it in a name book, several in fact, though I can not find any of them at the moment, and I can find no mention of the name on any online name bank. I believe it meant "noble," as so many of the Adel- names do.
You're right. On this website parents tell how to pronounce their daughters name Adelai, and it is AD-eh-lay. :)
