Begga's meaning?
Begga (d. 649/693) was the grandmother of Charles Martel; her name is also apparently sometimes given as Begue. Wikipedia's article on her: http://snipurl.com/gpb1.
I haven't been able to uncover a meaning for Begga's unusual (and rather unfortunate, by today's standards) name, or even a possible etymological source. I was wondering if you guys could help?

Lessee...she's known as Begga, Bregga, Begue, Beggue, and Doda (go figure). One thing's for sure...
in between founding churches, she must have been dodging her creditors.
