the female names: ALVESIA and JEMSIE
The name 'Alvesia' was used by my friend's gg grandmother when she boarded an immigrant ship from AUSTRIA to New york in 1903.
In the 1930 census she used the given name 'Louise' and had a neice living with her named 'JEMSIE' who was born in Germany.
Anyone ever heard of these names???

According to Google, Alvesia seems to be the name of a plant. Jemsie is probably a nn for James, which means "supplanter" or "seizer by the heel".
